Editorial policy
Urban Style Journal aims to make urban visual culture clear, specific and fair-minded. We explain our reasoning, avoid presenting opinion as fact, and make the limits of an article easy to understand.
Accuracy and clarity
We check factual statements against suitable sources and use precise language when a claim depends on context. Articles distinguish visible description from interpretation, define specialist terms, and avoid inventing places, projects or details. Where a subject cannot be settled from the information presented, we say so rather than imply certainty.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and clarity. Payment or another commercial relationship does not guarantee editorial coverage or a favourable view. Any sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled as such, and the label appears where readers encounter the material.
Corrections
If a factual error is identified, we review it and correct the article when warranted. Readers can use the Contact page to point out an error and, where possible, include the article title and the detail that needs checking. Substantive changes are distinguished from routine copy edits.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and should not be presented as documentary evidence when they are illustrative. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when relevant, they are identified as illustrations rather than photographs of actual places or events.
A city is read at street level
Small visual choices shape how a place feels and how people find their way through it. We look closely, explain the design language, and leave room for more than one interpretation.
